Built-In Intelligence with Expert Preconstruction Planning
Backed by decades of experience, our preconstruction teams deliver strategic insights that unlock greater value from day one. We can advise on value engineering, constructability, and site logistics to boost efficiency and avoid downstream issues. By optimizing site use and guiding decisions on materials, labor, and equipment, we help clients improve cost certainty, accelerate timelines, and streamline delivery. Our process also includes evaluating alternate designs and materials, developing preliminary budgets, and uncovering savings others often overlook.
Technology That Brings Clarity to Complexity
Advanced construction technologies — including building information modeling, 3D modeling, and 4D scheduling — helps eliminate uncertainty before work gets underway. Comprehensive constructability reviews are a core part of Baker’s approach, powered by volume-accurate 3D models built directly from design documents. Our advanced tools and precision-built models enable accurate planning and execution, resulting in efficient work plans and reduced disruption to ongoing operations. Survey data, along with models from other contractors and designers, are routinely integrated into the review process to enhance coordination, reduce risk, and ensure alignment across all stakeholders.
Self-Performance Backed by a National Workforce
Successfully delivering complex infrastructure projects starts with a team that has the resources and expertise to get it done. With the strength of 8,000+ highly trained co-workers, our ability to self-perform critical scopes — including civil construction, equipment installation, and system commissioning — gives us greater control over safety, quality, and schedule. With fewer subcontractors to coordinate and fewer handoffs to manage, we are better positioned to keep even the most complex industrial and municipal projects on track.
Proven Protocols for Confident Turnover
Our proven start-up and checkout process ensures every major building and equipment system — including owner-supplied systems — is installed, tested, and fully operational before turnover. We execute work with the end in mind by integrating our piping and process system testing plans into the project’s quality control/assurance program.
Rigorous protocols start with individual components, followed by stand-alone systems, and finally integrated testing of multiple process systems prior to the entire facility being brought into operation ahead of owner’s acceptance. Before handover, we conduct operational trials and provide hands-on training to ensure the owner’s team is fully prepared to run the facility with confidence.
Precision Planning. Confident Execution.
We plan smarter from the start. Our quality management process begins during design development and continues through every scope of work — translating plans into constructable packages, aligning teams through pre-installation meetings, and using preplacement checklists to verify progress in the field. With every detail accounted for — from safety and security to sequencing and logistics — we ensure high standards are met the first time.
Schedule certainty is built into our approach. We plan for lead times and commissioning requirements from day one, securing long-lead and price-sensitive materials early to prevent delays. Our just-in-time procurement strategies align with project logistics to keep operations moving efficiently. By self-performing major scopes and managing all subcontracted packages, we maintain full control over schedule and quality — minimizing delays and delivering smooth, predictable outcomes.
