Building Strong Foundations in Charlotte’s South End
The fast-growing South End neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina, is getting a high-end addition to its skyline.
In early December, Baker poured an 1,840 cubic yard mat foundation for a residential tower at 1111 S. Tryon. Part of the Queensbridge Collective development, the 42-story multifamily tower will be home to 409 units. A companion, 35-story tower will offer 600,000 square feet of office space and nearly 30,000 square feet of retail. A 10-story garage podium will connect the towers.
Staging is extremely limited at the project site, which is located at the intersection of two of Charlotte’s most important streets. Coordinating the logistics for the pour took an immense amount of collaboration between project partners and with suppliers to ensure it was completed safely and on schedule.
The project is a complete cast-in-place frame and is expected to top out in January 2025. Clark Construction is the construction manager-at-risk.
