Project Overview
This 1.2-million-square-foot parking garage is designed to streamline the traveler experience at Charleston’s fast-growing airport. Baker built the concrete shell for the five-level structure, which included two helix ramps. The scope included excavation, forming, rebar installation, placing and finishing all concrete, and stripping forms for all foundations and elevated levels. Despite an auger cast pile deficiency that set the schedule back 45 days, Baker completed the project ahead of schedule, under budget, under man hours, and with zero recordable injuries. This project was completed by our Charlotte, North Carolina, team.

The new Charleston International Airport parking garage is an elegant work of architecture. It is also a 1.2-million-square-foot testament to Baker grit. The garage was designed to streamline the traveler experience while adding 3,000 parking spaces to the fast-growing airport.
Baker built the concrete shell for the five-level structure, which included two helix ramps. The scope included excavation, forming, rebar installation, placing and finishing all concrete, and stripping forms for all foundations and elevated levels.
The Baker team placed all concrete at night to avoid extremely hot daytime temperatures. In addition, Baker had to overcome an auger cast pile deficiency, which held the team back by 45 days. Despite these challenges, the project was completed ahead of schedule, under budget, under man hours, and with zero recordable injuries for eight months straight.
