Project Overview

Baker Concrete was tasked with renovating the existing Terminal 25 building as well as expanding Terminal 21’s baggage handling facility at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Baker was also tasked with the demolition and installation of the Terminal 21 Canopy, the Terminal 22, 24 & 21A demolition, and new FPL Vault. Baker successfully completed the project on the original completion date even though our actual start was 2-months behind schedule. The hard completion date was set from beginning for the scheduled arrival of the brand new Celebrity Edge cruise ship. This project was completed by our Fort Lauderdale, Florida, team.

Additional Project Details

The schedule was particularly challenging due to the need for all trades to work simultaneously to meet the hard date finish (30+ boomlifts counted on site for final half of the project). Double shifts were required for approximately 2 months during the heat of the project. Installed 2 floors of elevated deck retrofitted and tied into an existing building based on as-built conditions varying from the structural drawings. Approximately 1/3 of all tie-beams were installed with shoring and blocked in after the fact due to schedule lag. All tie-beams were originally set to be installed on top of block wall placement in a linear fashion. Baker successfully completed the project with zero recordable injuries.
