Project Overview
The HSIB is an 11-level structure with four main elevator/stair cast-in-place cores and other elements (columns, core walls, ceilings, and V-shaped columns), of which 76,000 square feet are exposed.
Baker was brought in by Kitchell Contractors, Inc., in a design-assist role. The Baker team assisted with REVIT/BIM coordination and value engineering. Much time was spent early in the design process aligning expectations for the concrete finishes based on the schedule and budget. This process involved key team members from the design firms, the contractor, subcontractors, and the end user. The upfront collaboration was the key to the success of this project, which earned the Top Overall Excellence Award for 2021 from the Arizona chapter of the American Concrete Institute.
