Project Overview

The Hilton Bonnet Creek Ballroom Expansion added 101,000 square feet of meeting and event space, over one-third of the new footprint positioned over water. The project featured a 35,000-square-foot waterside ballroom (divisible into 12 sections), a screened lanai, and meeting rooms.
The complex scope of concrete installations included continuous and spread foundations, slab on grade, slab on metal deck, elevated beams, pile caps, and grand stairs. Baker was also responsible for surveying high-tolerance anchor bolts, hoisting, concrete washout, water stops, pest control, vapor barriers, excavation, and traffic control.
The expansion site was adjacent to the fully operational hotel and pool, which remained open during construction. Baker extensively researched and tested overwater working platforms, formwork, and personal protective equipment to create efficient and safe working conditions.
The team also used 3D modeling to locate and coordinate anchor bolt points and pipe and sheet pile placements. This pre-planning ensured precise bolt placements and helped identify potential conflicts with planned concrete placements before construction began.
Baker collaborated with the architect to finalize the grand stairs design, which transitioned from precast to cast-in-place concrete. After months of planning, Baker executed the largest square footage of grand stairs in Central Florida, totaling more than 10,700 square feet.
The project earned a 2024 Excellence in Construction Award of Merit from ABC Central Florida.
