Project Overview
Located on Montana State University Campus, Hyalite Hall, a six-story co-ed residence hall will house 510 freshmen students in single, double, and triple style rooms.
Battling temperatures as low as -30 degrees and high levels of snowfall, Baker was responsible for the total concrete package to the six-story structure including formwork, rebar, post-tensioning installation, and placement of all concrete.
Despite the challenges and extreme temperatures, the team worked every day without a total weather day shutdown and even achieved 3000psi for PT stressing on 2-3 days by using multiple layers of blankets and indirect heaters to heat rebar and concrete on vertical elements before and after pours.
