Power Plant
Project Overview
Located on the banks of the Ohio River, Spurlock Power Station is the largest plant owned by East Kentucky Power Cooperative. The power produced here serves roughly 1 million people across 89 counties. The station is a three-unit coal-fired facility and has undergone significant growth in recent years.
Between 2001 and 2008, Baker performed 22 different projects at the site, ranging from ash silos and new coal-fired units to crusher slabs, a limestone reclaim hopper, and tunnels. Baker was responsible for all structural concrete elements, including pedestals, piers, foundations, walls, paving, and elevated decks. Baker also managed the mechanical and electrical scopes for these projects.
Upon completion, the Gilbert units we supported ranked among the cleanest coal-powered units in the nation.
